THE GULF OF KALLONI -
THE MAGIC OF LESVOS
Sites visited from: Metochi, Tsiknias River, Kalloni Saltpans, Achladeri Forest, Alikoudi Pool, Polichnitos Saltpans, Mesa Wetlands

Migrants are the life-blood of the birder’s Lesvos, so today will be a full day searching for migrants around the main Gulf of Kalloni wetland sites plus breeding species such as Krüper’s Nuthatch, Short-toed Treecreeper, Masked Shrike and other woodland species in Achladeri Forest on the east side of the gulf.
I run two trips each week around the Gulf, but book early to ensure your place!

WESTERN LESVOS -
THE WILD, WILD, WEST
Sites visited from: Lardia Valley, Ipsilou area, Sigri area, Meladia Valley
08.30 – 19.30
A full day searching for migrants and resident specialties in the west. Species we will look for inc. breeding Cinereous Bunting, Isabelline Wheatear, Rock Sparrow, Chukar, Blue Rock-thrush, Rock Nuthatch, Crag Martin; migrant passerines inc. shrikes, warblers, flycatchers, etc.; raptors inc. Long-legged Buzzard, Short-toed Eagle, harriers, Lesser Kestrel and other migrant falcons (inc. Eleonora’s).
Demand is so great I do three trips out west each week. Book early to avoid disappointment!

This is without doubt the most popular trip I offer and why I offer three trips each week to satisfy the demand.
Each of the three days can be totally different depending on how I play them depending on weather and migration at the time. For those booking two days out west I'll try to get to different parts of this large area, but again, this depends on weather and migration at the time - after all, its about find and seeing the birds more than it is the island!

CENTRAL AND NORTHERN LESVOS -
THE MAGICAL WARBLER TOUR!
Sites visited from: Metochi, Agriosikos, Kavaki, Perasma Reservoir, North Coast, Napi Valley, Kalloni Saltpans
08.30 – 19.30
A full day featuring a selection of habitats from wooded valleys, coastal cliffs and lakes. Our main focus will be aimed at trying to find the three big Lesvos warblers – Eastern Bonelli’s, Rüppell’s and Olive-tree, but not forgetting the more common Subalpine, Sardinian, Orphean and Great Reed Warblers.
We’ll also see many other species as we explore the different habitats for these warblers, and may also see Long-legged Buzzard, Short-toed Eagle, other raptors, Scopoli’s and Yelkouan Shearwaters, Blue Rock-thrush, Crag Martin, Sombre Tit, Rock Nuthatch, coastal migrants and more. An outside chance of Scops Owl today too!
